Shearman moves into Milan
INTERNATIONAL LAW firm Shearman & Sterling is opening an office in Milan in 2010 in a move designed to improve its coverage for both Italian and international clients.
Complementing the firm’s established Rome office, partners Fabio Fauceglia and Tobia Croff will relocate from the Italian capital with a number of associates to support the operation. Rome managing partner Michael Bosco will also be heavily involved in setting up the operation.
European managing partner Creighton Condon said “The market for Italian transactional work is expanding. Northern Italy is one of the most dynamic economic environments in the country.
“With our new office, we will be even better placed to support clients in Milan and Rome with their domestic and cross-border work.”
Together the offices will offer Italian and US law capability, with a particular focus on corporate work including mergers and acquisitions, equity, debt offerings and privatisations. The firm says the Rome office, which opened in 2002, has advised on the largest Italian rights issue in 2009 to date.
