Beachcroft buys Welsh insurance business
UK COMMERCIAL law firm Beachcroft LLP has announced the acquisition of Newport-based defendant insurance business Kingslegal.
Kingslegal’s 109 members of staff are transferring to a new limited company named ‘B2 from Beachcroft’, which is wholly owned by Beachcroft and run by partner and managing director Nathan Butcher.
Senior partner Simon Hodson said the move was an example of the firm’s “strategic vision for growth, not only nationally, but in our key market sectors”.
“We provide litigation and claims-handling services to some of the biggest insurers in the country."
Butcher added that, while injury claims was a core strength of the firm, the area was also “hugely competitive” and B2 from Beachcroft would “support sustainable growth” in the area.
The acquisition comes in a year of significant expansion for the firm, which opened a base in Dublin in March 2009 and acquired two clinical-negligence teams from international law firm Eversheds in Leeds and Newcastle in November 2008.
The firm’s Dublin presence initially focused on professional indemnity and personal injury, but it has since expanded to cover the insurance field more generally.
