Chief exec change for Shoosmiths

THE CHIEF executive of Shoosmiths, Paul Stothard, has decided to leave the firm one year into his third term in the role.

The UK law firm announced that litigation partner Claire Rowe would replace Stothard from 1 August 2009, following a vote of the partnership.

Rowe, who becomes the firm’s first female chief executive, trained with the firm from 1984 and was made partner in 1990. She currently heads up the commercial group, which includes teams specialising in employment, litigation, housing, pensions and regulatory law.

Chairman Andrew Tubbs said she had “proven leadership ability”, both in this capacity and as a member of the firm’s operations board.

Stothard first became chief executive in 2000 after a two-year stint as finance director. Tubbs said he was leaving the firm “amicably”.

“He felt the time was right to hand his leadership role to someone new to shape the next chapter in our history,” he said.
