Weil Gotshal declares new DC head
INTERNATIONAL LAW firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges has chosen a new managing partner for the firm’s Wasington D.C. office.
Michale J. Lyle will replace David R. Berz in the leadership role, while continuing his fee-earning work as head of the firm’s products liability and mass tort litigation department. The appointment is effective as of 1 October.
Firm chairman Stephen J. Dannhauser said: “With Mike Lyle, we have the ideal successor to David Berz, who has played a remarkable role in the progress of the Washington office over many years. We are confident that Mike will be able to continue our efforts to build and diversify our practice in Washington.”
Lyle added he hoped to take the office “to the next level, in terms of our practices, our recruiting, and our outstanding reputation for community service and commitment”.
The firm opened in the US capital in 1975, its second national presence after New York, as well as being the second largest. Lyle will oversee a team of 30 partners and some 80 lawyers.
