Clifford Chance in Kiev launch
MAGIC-CIRCLE law firm Clifford Chance (CC) has announced plans to launch an office in the Ukrainian capital Kiev, becoming the latest in a line of firms to expand their Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) offerings.
The office, which is to be led by the current managing partner of CC’s Warsaw office, Nick Fletcher, and staffed by a team of local lawyers including four Ukrainian real-estate specialists, is expected to open later in 2008.
“Our new office in Kiev will enable us to handle the increasingly large volumes of work in the region, strengthen existing regional client relationships, and extend our ability to serve global clients as they expand in growth markets,” said CC’s CEE managing partner Michael Cuthbert.
The operation will initially focus on international execution facilities, expanding to a full-service operation after local capacity is built up.
