Paul Weiss names new chair
PAUL, WEISS, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrisson LLP (Paul Weiss) has elected Brad S. Karp to succeed Alfred D. Youngwood as the chair of the firm.
Karp, 48, will take up the helm on 1 January 2009 – one day after Youngwood retires to become Of Counsel for the firm. Currently a co-head of the firm’s litigation department, as well as serving on the management committee, he said he hoped the firm would “continue to flourish” under his leadership, as it had under Youngwood.
“Brad’s brilliance, commitment, decency and vision will lead the firm to even greater heights while maintaining the firm’s core values,” said Youngwood.
Paul Weiss is a firm of some 500 lawyers, with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London, Tokyo, Beijing and Hong Kong.
