Freshfields launches first international CSR report
INTERNATIONAL LAW firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has launched its first international,
externally-assured corporate social responsibility (CSR) report.
The report, entitled Corporate social responsibility: making a difference around the world, covers a variety of commitments that comprise and influence CSR activities across all 26 of the firm’s offices, and follows the firm’s pledge to expand upon its 2006 London-focused CSR report.
“The report is an opportunity to assess, on an international scale, how we are progressing in our commitment to being a socially and environmentally-responsible business,” said Guy Morton, joint senior partner at Freshfields. “It is also intended to improve our understanding of the local and international markets and communities we work in.”
The publication, which is divided into the general areas of law and ethics, including people and diversity; climate change and environment; and community and pro bono legal advice, also addresses how the firm met targets set out in the 2006 report, as well as the firm’s objectives for the future.
“We aim to be responsible as well as profitable,” says John Blain, partner in the firm’s London office. “Key to this is having a positive impact on our local communities, reducing our contribution to climate change, being a good employer, investing in the future by helping to improve the skills of young people, and, as a law firm, promoting human rights and enhancing access to justice for people in need.”
