Yale Law Women names most family-friendly firms
YALE LAW Women (YLW), a student body at Yale Law School, has named what it considers to be the ‘top ten family-friendly firms’.
Compiled drawing on a range of statistics and policies, and including information on part-time working and maternity leave, the list includes Arnold & Porter, Dorsey & Whitney, Debevoise & Plimpton, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, Kirkland & Ellis and Perkins Coie.
WilmerHale, Kramer Levin, Mintz Levin and Covington & Burling complete the line up.
Survey responses also showed the average percentage of female partners in US firms is 19 per cent. The average percentage of partners working part time is four per cent.
Average maternity and paternity leave permitted was found to be 16 weeks and eight weeks respectively.
YLW chair Lauren Gerber said the purpose of the poll was to allow firms “an opportunity to compare their policies to those of their peers”.
“Practising attorneys can use the top ten list to advocate for improved work-life balance, and current law students can better assess their future employers.”
